Epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis E in Nanning city from 2006 to 2022
Objective To analyze epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis E in Nanning city. Methods We obtained data on hepatitis E cases during 2006-2022 in Nanning from the China Disease Prevention and Control Information System for a descriptive analysis of hepatitis E incidence. We used a joinpoint regression model to explore incidence trends. Results A total of 2 743 hepatitis E cases were reported from 2006 to 2022 in Nanning, for an average annual incidence of 2.19 per 100 000 population. The annual percent change(APC)of incidence was 20.62%(95%CI:12.98%-35.20%)from 2006 to 2013 and-12.91%(95%CI:-18.63%~-9.14%)from 2013 to 2022.Annual average incidences per 100 000 among ≤17-,18-34-,35-59-,and ≥60-year-olds were 0.07,1.34,3.09,and 4.44;in urban districts and suburban counties, annual incidences were 2.58 and 1.81;and for males and females, annual incidences were 2.98 and 1.33.Farmers accounted for 51.70%of all cases. Conclusions The incidence of hepatitis E had an increasing-then-decreasing annual trend during 2006-2022 in Nanning, with incidence increasing with increasing age.We need to strengthen hepatitis E prevention and control in priority populations such as farmers and the elderly.
