Willingness to receive influenza vaccine,23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine, and herpes zoster vaccine among residents over 50 years old:a cross-sectional study in Dongcheng district of Beijing in 2023
Objective To explore willingness of residents over 50 years old to receive influenza vaccine(InfV),23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine(PPV23),and herpes zoster vaccine(HZV).Methods We recruited residents aged over 50 years from 17 sub-districts in Dongcheng district of Beijing and conducted a questionnaire-based survey to determine rates of willingness to receive the three vaccines and factors influencing willingness. Results Among 1 351 subjects,76.61%(1 035 subjects),68.99%(932),and 57.66%(779)were willing to receive InfV,PPV23,and HZV,respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that willingness to receive the three vaccines was significantly influenced by subjects'attitudes about and awareness of vaccines and target diseases, vaccination recommendations from doctors, and free vaccination policies. Conclusions Rates of willingness to receive InfV,PPV23,and HZV were not high among residents over 50 years old in the surveyed areas. We suggest strengthening health education on knowledge about vaccines and target diseases and encouraging doctors to recommend vaccination to increase residents'willingness to receive vaccines and increase vaccine uptake.
