Cost-utility analysis of 1-dose and 2-dose varicella attenuated live vaccine immunization strategies using a decision tree-Markov cohort model
Objective To analyze the cost-utility of 1-dose and 2-dose varicella attenuated live vaccine(VarV)immunization strategies.Methods We constructed a cost-utility decision tree-Markov model of VarV immunization strategies for the 2022 Chinese birth cohort and estimated the cost and utility[Quality-adjusted life year(QALY)]of none,1-dose,and 2-dose immunization strategies.We determined incremental cost-utility ratios(ICURs)of 1-dose and 2-dose immunization strategies.Results Total cost of 0-dose,1-dose.,and 2-dose VarV vaccination strategies were 49 130.561,10 370.688,and 8 145.216 million yuan,respectively,yielding utilities of 738.414,740.135,and 740.231 million QALYs.ICURs for 1-dose and 2-dose vaccination strategies compared with no vaccination were-22 524.3 and-22 564.1 yuan per QALY.Univariate sensitivity analysis showed that discount rate,treatment costs for outpatients without complications,and utility value for outpatients with complications were the main parameters influencing ICUR.Conclusions Both 1-dose and 2-dose VarV immunization strategies had good cost-utility and would save money.
