Knowledge, attitudes, and practices about hepatitis B prevention and control among undergraduates:a cross-sectional study in Chengyang district of Qingdao in 2023
Objective To explore knowledge, attitudes, and practices about hepatitis B prevention and control among undergraduates. Methods We used a cluster random sampling method to select undergraduates from two universities in Chengyang district of Qingdao city for a questionnaire-based survey. We analyzed scores of knowledge, positive attitudes, and positive practices about hepatitis B prevention and control;maximum questionnaire scores were 9,8,and 2 points, respectively. Results Among 925 subjects, rates of having knowledge, positive attitudes, and practices ranged from 49.62%to 92.00%,20.22%to 95.78%,and 24.76%to 56.22%,respectively,with median(interquartile)scores being 6.00(5.00-8.00),2.00(2.00-5.00),and 1.00(0.00-1.00).Scores for knowledge positively correlated with scores for positive attitudes and scores for positive practices(r=0.136,P<0.01;r=0.194,P<0.01).Conclusions The levels of awareness of knowledge, positive attitudes, and positive practices about hepatitis B prevention and control were generally low among undergraduates in the two surveyed universities. We suggest strengthening health education on hepatitis B prevention and control for undergraduates.
