Objective To explore parents'knowledge about human papillomavirus(HPV)/HPV vaccine and willingness for HPV vaccination of 9-18-year-old girls in Heilongjiang province. Methods We enrolled parents of 9-18-year-old girls who had been randomly selected from 156 primary/secondary schools in 52 districts of Heilongjiang for a questionnaire-based survey. We analyzed rates of parents'awareness of HPV/HPV vaccine, rates of willingness for HPV vaccination of girls, and factors influencing willingness. Results Rates of awareness of knowledge about HPV and HPV vaccine among parents of 9-18-year-old girls ranged from 22.75%to 93.32%;the overall rate of willingness for HPV vaccination of girls was 89.92%(660/734).Multivariate logistic regression showed that willingness was significantly influenced by annual family income, parent scores of knowledge about HPV vaccine, and girls'history of receipt of non-Expanded Program on Immunization vaccines. Conclusions Awareness and knowledge about HPV/HPV vaccine among parents of 9-18-year-old girls in Heilongjiang varied by different types of knowledge, while their willingness for vaccination of girls with HPV vaccine was generally high.We should strengthen parent health education on knowledge about HPV/HPV vaccine.
