Current situation and countermeasures of sex education for junior middle school students in Gui'an New Dis-trict,Guiyang City,Guizhou Province in 2022
Objective To understand the current situation of sex education for junior high school students in Gui'an New District,Guiyang City,Guizhou Province,and to provide countermeasures and suggestions for sexual health educa-tion in schools in the district.Methods In July 2022,the seventh,eighth,and ninth grade students in Gui'an New Dis-trict were extracted though cluster sampling method and conducted an investigation on their sexual knowledge,attitudes,be-haviors,and education using a self-designed questionnaire.The logistic regression model was used to analyze the impact of relevant factors on sexual knowledge and behaviors.Results 2545 junior high school students were included in the survey,and the pass rate of sexual knowledge among the respondents was 47.8％.5.6％of the respondents had sexual intercourse,and the youngest was at 13 years old.Of all respondents,33.8％reported experience on different types of sexual harass-ment.Most of the respondents reported receiving sex education in one to three classes per school year(64.4％),mostly taught in a relatively single way through biology class(82.3％)and class meeting(39.6％).The gender,sexual knowl-edge pass rate,and whether or not the respondents agreed with sexual behavior were related to whether or not the respond-ents had sexual behavior.Conclusion Junior high school students in a district of Guizhou Province were lacked of sexual knowledge,especially AIDS knowledge.Middle school students have relatively open sexual attitudes,and they have a toler-ant attitude towards premarital sexual behavior.There were sexual health hazards and school sexual education was inade-quate.It is recommended to improve school sexual health education curriculum by increasing class time,improving the con-tent,and enriching the teaching format.
