Study on depressionsymptoms and its influencing factors in rural elderly women
Objective To investigate the status of depressive symptoms and its influencing factors in the female elderly in rural areas of China,and to provide reference for improving the mental health and quality of life of the female eld-erly in rural areas.Methods Based on data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey(CLHLS)in 2018,a household survey was conducted using a random sampling method.A total of 3198 rural female elderly over 65 years old were selected from the database as the study subjects.The status of depressive symptoms in rural female elderly was described.Chi-square and binary Logistic regression models were used to analyze the influencing factors of depressive symptoms in rural fe-male elderly.Results A total of 3198 rural female elderly were included in this study.The prevalence of depressive symp-toms was 26.2%.Binary Logistic regression model analysis showed that self-rated health status was general(OR=2.401,95%CI:1.816-3.179)and poor(OR=3.394,95%CI:2.394-4.816),life satisfaction was general(OR=1.512,95%CI:1.177-1.943),low satisfaction(OR=3.973,95%CI:2.305-6.851),average sleep quality(OR=2.402,95%CI:1.834-3.147)and poor sleep quality(OR=5.149,95%CI:3.812-6.954),the general ability to think about things(OR=2.898,95%CI:2.235-3.758)and can not think about things(OR=5.852,95%CI:4.028-8.503),lack of living expenses(OR=1.452,95%CI:1.082-1.947),hearing impairment(OR=1.437,95%CI:1.126-1.834),no confiding partner(OR=170.842,95%CI:84.014-347.408)were risk factors for de-pressive symptoms in rural female elderly.Conclusion The incidence of depression in female elderly in rural areas is high.Attention should be paid to sleep quality,lifestyle,health status and life satisfaction of female elderly in rural areas,so as to avoid the development of depression and improve the quality of life of female elderly in rural areas in their later life.
