Analysis on the status of traditional Chinese medicine health cultural literacy and its influencing factors among residents in Northwest of China in 2021
Objective To analyze the level of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)health cultural literacy and its influencing factors in Northwest of China,and to provide theoretical basis for formulating relevant policies.Methods From June to December 2021,a stratified multi-stage proportional to population size sampling method and random sampling meth-od were adopted to select the permanent residents in Northwest of China for investigation.Multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the main factors associated with the level of TCM health literacy of residents.Results In 2021,the overall level of TCM health literacy of residents in Northwest of China was 18.49%,the literacy levels of basic concept of TCM,appropriate methods for TCM,healthy lifestyle of TCM,common knowledge of TCM culture and information un-derstanding ability of TCM were 39.69%,4.80%,34.59%,36.15%and 49.20%,respectively.The results of multi-variate logistic regression analysis showed that the residents with junior high school,senior high school/vocational high school/technical secondary school education had lower literacy levels compared to residents with college/bachelor degree and above,and the OR values were 0.536(95%CI:0.346-0.831)and 0.648(95%CI:0.446-0.941),respectively.Taking farmers as reference,the residents with occupations as civil servants,teachers,medical personnel and other public institutions had higher resident literacy levels,and the OR values were 4.336(95%CI:1.747-10.763),3.261(95%CI:1.394-7.628),6.103(95%CI:2.531-14.715)and 2.707(95%CI:1.092-6.709),respective-ly.Conclusion Education level and occupation are the main factors associated with TCM health literacy among residents in Northwest of China.In future,residents with low education level and farmers should be the key groups that need to be im-proved in TCM health literacy.
