Study on smoking status and its influencing factors among college students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in 2021
Objective To understand the smoking status and its influencing factors among college students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,and to provide reference for relevant departments to carry out tobacco control work.Methods From July to October 2021,multi-stage stratified cluster probability sampling method was used to select college students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region for questionnaire survey.The main factors affecting smoking behavior of college students were analyzed by disordered multi-classification logistic regression and CHAID decision tree model.Results The current smoking rate of college students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was 7.9％,and the current daily smoking rate was 4.7％.Disordered multinomial logistic regression analysis showed that gender,previous smoking status,school in-door and outdoor smoking regulations,seeing teacher's smoking in school,smoking in teaching building,smoking in dor-mitory building,awareness of smoking-induced lung cancer,awareness of low-tar cigarettes and general cigarette hazards,and getting information(harm of smoking or encouraging cessation)through the Internet were the main factors affecting col-lege students'current smoking(P＜0.05).The results of the decision tree model showed that whether they wanted to quit smoking,previous smoking status,order of cigarette/e-cigarette use,and information on smoking hazards/encouragement to quit smoking through school health education courses were the main factors affecting college students'current smoking(P＜0.05).Conclusion The current smoking rate of college students in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is equal to college students in China,and there are many influencing factors.The results of the two models are complementary for providing ref-erence for the development of tobacco control work in relevant departments.
