Relationship between health literacy and health status among preschool children in Shenzhen City
Objective To analyze the relationship between health literacy and health status among preschool chil-dren,and to provide evidence for the development of health education strategies.Methods Through multi-stage stratified and cluster sampling method,1514 preschool children in Shenzhen were investigated.The survey results were analyzed by means of Chi-square test and Logistic regression analysis.Results The recovery rate of valid questionnaires was 86.66%.The health literacy level of preschool children in Shenzhen was 66.84%,the proportion of good parents-evaluated health sta-tus was 80.64%,the two-week illness prevalence was 18.37%.Logistic regression analysis showed that,health literacy was an influencing factor of parents-evaluated health status and two-week illness situation for preschool children.Compared to lack of health literacy,those who had satisfied health literacy had better parents-evaluated health status(OR=2.689,95%CI:2.030-3.562)and lower two-week illness prevalence(OR=0.723,95%CI:0.540-0.968).Conclusion The im-provement of health literacy is an important way to improve the health status of preschool children,targeted interventions should be implemented in weak links of health literacy.
