Objective To explore the use of drug inserts among residents in Shenzhen City, and to provide refer-ence for relevant departments to improve drug instructions and drug knowledge publicity. Methods A non-probability sam-pling method was used, and a survey related to drug inserts use was conducted by volunteers from Shenzhen Community Service Center using digital questionnaire survey platform.SPSS 25.0 software was used to perform x2 test and logistic regres-sion analysis. Results A total of 1592 questionnaires were collected, and the final valid questionnaire was 1566 with an ef-fective recovery rate of 98.36%.75.61%of the residents read drug label before medication.Unsafe drug use due to deviation interpretation of instructions accounted for 22.92%.53.63%of the residents encountered problems such as too small font,or too small spacing, which was not convenient to read.57.34%of residents wanted the instruction manual may be presented in both paper and electronic form. The reading of instructions before medication was associated with gender, education level, and engaged/studied pharmaceutical profession(x2=14.779,29.895,56.526,P<0.05).Logistic analysis showed that the unsafe drug use behaviors of residents was related to gender,age,engage/study of pharmaceutical professional work and reading drug labels, and the OR values were 0.338(95%CI:0.255-0.449),0.324(95%CI:0.162-0.648),0.140(95%CI:0.076-0.259),0.436(0.280-0.679),respectively.Conclusion The use rate of drug inserts in residents is relatively high, which is mainly affected by gender, education level and professional practice. There are still risks of unsafe drug use due to incorrect drug inserts use.It is still necessary to do more job in publicizing drug instructions knowledge and guiding residents to use drugs correctly.
