The effect of labor analgesia on postpartum depression based on latent profile analysis
Objective To explore the effect of labor analgesia on postpartum depression and its categories by latent profile analysis(LPA).Methods A total of 329 pregnant women who were hospitalized for delivery in the obstetrics de-partments of three hospitals in Zhongwei City,Ningxia Autonomous Region, from May 2021 to March 2022 were selected for our study. The pregnant women were divided into the labor analgesia group and the control group, and the depression situa-tion at 3 d and 42 d postpartum were investigated by using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale(EPDS).LPA model was conducted by using Mplus 8.3 software for analysis of the EPDS scores, the depression detection rate and the degree of depression between the two groups. Results The differences between the labor analgesia group and the control group in terms of EPDS score, depression detection rate and degree of depression at 42 d postpartum were statistically significant(t=5.079,x2=8.376,x2=8.382,all P<0.05).The LPA analysis categorized postpartum depression into three catego-ries:low-risk group with(3.08±2.35)score and accounting for 36.5%,medium-risk with(9.89±2.91)score and accounting for 45.8%,and high-risk group with(19.54±3.18)score and accounting for 17.7%.The difference ofthe postnatal EPDS scores between medium-risk labor analgesia group and control group was statistically significant(t=7.225,P<0.05).Conclusion Labor analgesia reduces the risk of depression at 42 d postpartum and in intermediate-risk women.
