A study on correlation between negative life events and sexual behaviors among secondary vocational students
Objective To explore the correlation between negative sexual life events and sexual behaviors among secondary vocational students. Methods From March to May 2021,a stratified cluster method was used to randomly select 4378 students from 2 secondary vocational and technical schools in Wuhan for a questionnaire survey.Negative life events and sexual behavior were evaluated by Adolescent Life Events Scale(ASLEC)and self-made Adolescent Reproductive Health Promotion Questionnaire, and the relationship between them was analyzed by logistic regression. Results A total of 4282 valid questionnaires were collected with a recovery rate of 97.8%.Among the survey population, the incidence of sex behav-ior was 4.13%,of which unsafe sex accounted for 58.2%.The total scores of life events scale and six factors of sexual be-havior were higher than those of non-sexual group(all P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that after controlling for demographic variables,"learning stress(OR=0.91,95%CI:0.84-0.98)"and"other factor(OR=1.27,95%CI:1.17-1.38)"were associated with the occurrence of sexual behavior and the OR value was statistically significant(all P<0.05).Further analysis showed that"punished(OR=1.14,95%CI:1.04-1.25)","lost(OR=0.85,95%CI:0.71-1.00)"and"other factor(OR=1.21,95%CI:1.08-1.35)"were associated with unsafe sexual behavior significantly(all P<0.05).Conclusion The reported rate of sexual behavior and unsafe sex is relatively high in Wuhan, and different factors of negative sexual life events showed different influence.Except carrying out sexual edu-cation,society,schools and families should also reduce unnecessary criticism and punishment, improve students'ability to cope with negative sexual life events, and take corresponding behavioral intervention measures for different student groups to reduce their sexual behavior, especially the occurrence of unsafe sexual behavior.
