Research on social participation of the elderly from the perspective of active aging
Under active perspective towards aging,the aspect of social participation has garnered considerable at-tention for its significant impact on enhancing the life quality of the elderly.Therefore,the exploration on characteristics of elderly social participation,coupled with the implementation of intervention activities based on their characteristics,are of great significance.Nevertheless,a uniform understanding of the concept of social participation has not yet to be achieved a-mong domestic and international researchers,leading to variations in research contents across different studies related to so-cial participation of the elderly.In light of this,this paper tries to review the concept and categories of social participation systematically,with a particular focus on its research contents and challenges at both domestic and international levels,for subsequent theoretical instrument development which would be used in future research and intervention on social participation of the elderly in China.
