Investigation on current status of cognitive attitude and behavior towards monkeypox prevention among in-bound individuals in Gongshu District of Hangzhou City
Objective To understand the current status of cognitive attitude and behavior towards monkeypox pre-vention among inbound individuals in Gongshu District of Hangzhou City,and to provide scientific evidence for reducing the risk of monkeypox importation.Methods A random sampling method was employed to select individuals aged 16 years and above who were undergoing centralized medical isolation for inbound individuals in Gongshu District from November to De-cember 2022.A self-designed questionnaire on current status of monkeypox prevention knowledge among inbound individuals was designed and an online survey was conducted by using"Wenjuanxing"platform.Descriptive analysis was used to exam-ine the awareness,attitude,behavior,and sources of information related to monkeypox prevention.Trend chi-square and chi-square tests were applied for intergroup comparisons.Results A total of 293 valid responses were collected from inbound individuals.The overall awareness rate of monkeypox prevention knowledge was 44.71%.There were statistically significant differences in the recognition of monkeypox prevention knowledge among individuals with different genders,ages,marital statuses,occupations,and educational levels(P<0.05).93.52%of individuals showed varying degrees of concern about monkeypox outbreaks,and 62.80%expressed varying degrees of worries about getting infected with monkeypox.Only 3.75%reported a history of monkeypox vaccination.In the case of relevant symptoms,only 59.73%of individuals would promptly seek medical care at a fever clinic.The main channels for obtaining prevention knowledge were websites/news apps(86.01%)and WeChat/Weibo(60.41%).Conclusion The overall awareness rate of monkeypox outbreaks among in-bound individuals was low,with certain levels of worries and concerns.The vaccination rate was relatively low,and the sci-entific seeking of medical care was inadequate.Therefore,it is recommended to strengthen the dissemination of monkeypox prevention knowledge through various channels such as the internet to enhance the protection awareness of inbound individu-als and reduce the risk of monkeypox importation.
