Analysis of the current status and influencing factors of health science popularization by WeChat public ac-counts of public medical and health institutions in Beijing
Objective To understand the health science information offered by public medical and health institu-tions in Beijing,and to provide reference for promoting and improving the standardized system ofhealth science information released by medical and health institutions in Beijing.Methods A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was a-dopted.From October to November 2023,a survey on the current situation of health science information dissemination was conducted among 128 secondary and above public medical and health institutions in Beijing.A multivariate ordered logistic regression model was used to analyze factors such as the level of the institution,the content of health science information,the form of health science information,the investigation of audience needs,and whether there had special fund for conduc-ting health science popularization work.Results The number of followers of WeChat public account was divided into level 1(<17 477),level 2(17 477-),level 3(79 876.5-)and level 4(≥231 193.3).The results of the multivariate or-dered logistic regression showed that national-level institutions(OR=16.947)and municipal-level institutions(OR=6.001)had higher number of followerscompared to district-level institutions.Compared to institutions that published informa-tion promoting traditional Chinese medicine culture,the institutions those did not publish such information(OR=0.268)had lower number of followers.Compared to institutions that published public health knowledge,the institutions those did not publish such information(OR=0.013)had lower number of followers.Compared to institutions that usedtext combined with images to publish information,the institutions those did not use this format(OR=0.015)had lower number of follow-ers.Compared to institutions that used live streaming,the institutions those did not use live streaming(OR=4.949)had higher number of followers.Compared to institutions that had special funds for health science popularization work,the institu-tions those did not have such funds(OR=0.297)had lower number of followers.All the above differences are statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Mostof medical and health institutions paid attention to the mechanism establishment of health science popularization informationdissemination.Public medical and health institutions need to focus on improving their professional capabilities,establishing standards for health science popularization information disseminators,and form-ing a pool of health science popularization experts.Sufficient financial resource is usefulforpopularization information cover-age.The form of health science popularization information dissemination should be matched the needs of audiences and appli-cation scenarios.
