A study on association between health literacy and use of health science popularization short videos among res-idents in Beijing
Objective To understand current status of health literacy levels and the use of health science populari-zation short videos among residents in Beijing,analyze the association between them,and to provide evidence for advancing health communication effect and improving residents'health literacy levels in China.Methods From November to Decem-ber 2023,a simple random sampling method was used to randomly select a portion of residents in Beijing.A multiple linear regression model was employed to analyze the association and its degree between residents'health literacy and their use of health science popularization short videos.Results A total of 3291 residents were included in the study,with an average standardized health literacy score of(37.08±9.31)points.Among them,52.1%followed health science popularization short video accounts.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that key factors affecting residents'standardized health literacy scores included following health science popularization short videos(B=0.044),liking four or more short video formats(B=0.046),trusting two video sources(B=0.078),trusting three video sources(B=0.059),and trusting four or more video sources(B=0.087)(P<0.05).Conclusion The use of health science popularization short videos is positively correlated with residents'health literacy levels.However,the promotion of short videos use still needs to be strengthened.Therefore,efforts could be focused on enhancing the effectiveness and authority of health science populari-zation short videos to sequentially improve residents'health literacyin the future.
