Effect evaluation of health education activity based on behavior change theory during the rehabilitation for stroke patients
Objective To evaluate the effect of health education activity based on behavior change theory during the rehabilitation for stroke patients, and to provide a reference for the rational development of clinical interventions for stroke. Methods From January 2020 to January 2023,a total of 304 stroke patients were selected from Peking University Third Hospital using convenience sampling method and divided into the control group and the experimental group according to randomized numerical table method, with 152 cases in each group. The control group implemented routine health education, and the experimental group was given health education activity based on behavior change theory except routine health educa-tion.The x2 test and t-test were used to compare rehabilitation exercise adherence, disease cognitive attitude, motor func-tion,neurological function, life ability, and self-efficacy in two groups before and after the intervention. Results After 6 months of intervention, total scores of rehabilitation exercise compliance, attitude toward disease perception,Fugl-Meyer motor function(FMA),European Stroke Scale(ESS),Modified Barthel Index(MBI),and total self-efficacy in the ex-perimental group were(47.11±4.35)point,(51.75±4.80)point,(63.79±5.54)point,(76.83±6.32)point,(41.09±4.45)point,and(93.21±8.96)point,which were higher than that in control group(34.09±3.28)point,(43.44±3.51)point,(47.98±4.27)point,(60.21±5.55)point,(32.87±3.03)point,(75.04±6.38)point.Moreover,the scores of each outcome index in the two groups were higher than the scores before the intervention(all P<0.05).Conclusion Health education activity based on behavior change theory can improve the rehabilitation exercise compliance of stroke patients, and improve their cognitive attitude, motor, neurological, life function and self-efficacy.
