Quick Fitting of Pearson-Ⅲ Type Frequency Curve for Establishing Storm Intensity Formula
The storm intensity formula is heavily dependent on fitting of the Pearson- Ⅲ type theoretical frequency curve, which could not be computerized and was a major restriction on the establishment efficiency of the storm intensity formula. A quick computer-based fitting method was proposed. The Gamma function was calculated using the Chebyshev polynomial approximation. The Pearson-Ⅲ type theoretical frequency curve was integrated by numerical integration. The variation coefficient Cv and deviation coefficient Cs of storm data were determined by one-dimensional optimization. Preparation of the storm intensity formula was fully computerized, and process became more quick and simple.
