Characterization of an Imported Purified Terephthalic Acid and Identification of Solid Waste Properties
In this study,x-ray diffraction(XRD),fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and other analytical equipment were used to comprehensively characterize a sample declared as Purified Terephthalic Acid, and the physical and chemical characteristics of the sample such as main components and contents, acid value, ignition residue, moisture and impurity content were obtained. It was compared with relevant references, standards and other materials to determine the source and attributes of the sample. The results showed that the composition of the sample was mainly terephthalic acid, and its appearance, acid value, ignition residue,p-toluic acid(p-TOL),4-carboxybenzaldehyde(4-CBA),moisture and other items were not in accordance with the provisions of Purified Terephthalic Acid(PTA)for Industrial Use(GB/T 32685-2016),but rather belonged to defective products, recycled materials or scraps generated in the production process of terephthalic acid.According to 4.2 a)scraps, leftovers, residual substances, etc.generated in the process of product processing and manufacturing in General Rules of Identification standards for Solid Wastes(GB 34330-2017),the sample was determined to be solid waste.
