Rapid Identification of Copper Pyrometallurgical Dust by Combined Application of Portable Devices
The elemental composition of copper pyrometallurgical dust closely resembles that of copper concentrates, making it difficult to distinguish between the two based on elemental type and content alone. This poses a substantial challenge to the efficiency of customs clearance and the inspection of imported copper materials, particularly with the increasing volume of copper concentrates entering China and the concomitant complexity in material properties.Addressing the rapid screening of solid waste from imported copper ores is of utmost importance. This study utilized typical samples of imported copper concentrates and principal copper pyrometallurgical dust for analysis. The material's composition and structural characteristics were examined using a portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and a portable X-ray diffractometer. The investigation focused on delineating the primary differences between copper concentrates and copper pyrometallurgical dust, culminating in the development of a swift method for attributing the characteristics of copper pyrometallurgical dust.
