Uncertainty Evaluation for Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Exhaust Gas Scrubber Washwater from Ships by HPLC Method
This study determined the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in exhaust gas scrubber washwater from ships using high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).A mathematical model was established with naphthalene as an example to evaluate the uncertainty of the analysis process. The main factors considered in the uncertainty evaluation included the calibration process, sample weighing, sample dilution, extraction process, and random effects during testing. The expanded uncertainty for naphthalene concentration was calculated to be 0.17 µg/L,with the result expressed as(1.91±0.17)μg/L,k=2.The analysis revealed that the large stsources of uncertainty stemmed from the standard stock solution concentration and the preparation of standard solutions. This study helps to assess the accuracy and reliability of PAHs detection in exhaust gas scrubber washwater from ships.
