Research Progress on Detection Methods of Total Flavonoids in Plants
Flavonoids are an important class of secondary metabolites in plants, which mostly exist in the form of glycosides or carbohydrates synthesized by glycosylation,as well as in free form.Flavonoids have various biological activities such as antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, and are widely used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, and animal feed additives. As natural additives, flavonoids are different from artificially synthesized additives that contain harmful impurities or easily cause harm to the body when used in excessive amounts. They can not only improve the quality and safety of food, but also reduce environmental pollution. This article elaborates on the extraction and determination methods of total flavonoids from plants, conducts classification statistics, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of various methods, and proposes suggestions for the problems and future research directions of total flavonoid determination, providing reference for future researchers in related research.
