Epidemiological Analysis of Infectious Diseases in ASEAN Countries from 2019 to 2023
This study conducts a statistical analysis on the epidemic situation of infectious diseases in ASEAN countries from 2019 to 2023,published by global authoritative institutions.Main variables including country names, disease names, onset times, and number of cases were extracted to delineate the spectrum of diseases and their temporal and spatial distri-butions.The findings revealed a"U-shaped"pattern in the number of reported infectious disease cases in ASEAN countries(excluding COVID-19)over the five-year period.During this timeframe, all nine ASEAN countries documented outbreaks of infectious diseases. The most frequently reported diseases were dengue fever,hand-foot-and-mouth disease,measles,tubercu-losis,and viral hepatitis, accounting for 88.59%,6.16%,1.27%,0.90%,and 0.71%of all infectious disease cases,respective-ly.Specifically,dengue fever cases peaked between June and November.Other international infectious diseases of concern, such as monkeypox, human infections with highly pathogenic avian influenza, and Zika virus disease, were sporadically re-ported in a few countries. The study underscores the necessity for health and quarantine authorities at Chinese ports of entry to closely monitor common and highly prevalent infectious diseases like dengue fever and to maintain a strategy of concur-rent prevention for multiple diseases.
