Effects of vestibular rehabilitation combined with scalp acupuncture on balance function and balance confidence in stroke patients
Objective:To observe the effects of vestibular rehabilitation combined with scalp acupuncture therapy on balance function and activity balance confidence in stroke patients.Methods:A total of 80 stroke patients were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group,with 40 patients in each group.The control group received scalp acupuncture treatment,while the observation group received vestibular rehabilitation training on the basis of scalp acupuncture treatment.The treatments lasted for 3 weeks.Before and after treatment,the Berg bal-ance scale(BBS)was used to assess the balance function of the patients,the Prokin balance test system was used to statically assess the patients'moving area(S)and movement length(L)under open and closed eyes,and the pa-tients'average trajectory error(ATE)and the test completion time(TTE)were dynamically assessed,the Barthel index(BI)was used to assess the ability of patients'daily living activities,and the specific activity balance confi-dence scale(ABC)was used to assess the balance confidence of the patients.Results:After treatment,the scores of BBS,BI and ABC in two groups were significantly improved as compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01),and the moving area(S)and length(L)of static assessment under open and closed eyes,the average trajectory error(ATE)and the time to complete the test(TTE)in dynamic assessment were significantly lower than before treat-ment(P＜0.01).After treatment,the BBS,BI and ABC scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05),and the moving area(S)and length(L)of static assessment under open and closed eyes,ATE and TTE of dynamic assessment in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Vestibular rehabilitation combined with scalp acupuncture therapy can improve the balance stability function under open and closed eyes and the static and dynamic control ability of lower limbs in stroke patients,and improve the balance function of patients and strengthen their confidence in activity bal-ance.
