Advances in the structural and functional study of pentapeptide repeat proteins
The pentapeptide repeat proteins(PRPs)are a large superfamily with over 38 000 sequences in nearly 3 500 species, mostly belonging to cyanobacteria but distributed in all branches of life.PRPs have different functions in different species and are involved in several biological processes in living organisms. In this paper,we mainly summarize the characteristics of PRPs,three-dimensional structures and related functions of PRPs,aiming to elucidate the protein structures and related physiological functions of PRPs in different organisms and provide an important theoretical basis for the subsequent in-depth study of PRPs.
