The development process of national highway service areas is relatively long,involving three important stages:independent service,functional improvement,and quality service.How to design and establish a modern service complex that is safe,intelligent,low-carbon,aesthetically pleasing,economically diverse,and has complete leisure and entertainment facilities to meet the expectations of the people has become an important issue for industry enterprises.This article takes the practical experience of domestic and foreign characteristic service areas and four super highway service areas under construction in Sichuan as examples,provide theoretical basis for the development of highway service areas in the context of the new era.
