Progress in RNA dynamic imaging technology in live cells
As the party of"central dogma",RNA plays a crucial role in various cellular activities. The subcellular RNA localization and dynamic processes in living cells are closely related to RNA function. Therefore,it is desirable to develop RNA imaging biotechnology to track spatiotemporally RNA in live cells, enable us to understand RNA activity and function in situ, and further reveal the relationship between RNA-related life course and diseases. This review mainly focuses on two major live cell RNA imaging tools,(i)RNA hairpin:fluorescent protein system, and(ii)fluorogenic RNA aptamer:small molecule fluorophore system. In addition,we briefly introduce other RNA imaging tools.Furthermore, this review outlines the characteristics and issues of different systems in tracking RNA,discusses the future directions for the development of RNA dynamic imaging tools.
