Some isothermal adsorption and desorption experiments of methane in coal particles with different radius under the different temperature and equilibrium pressure conditions were designed.A initial effective diffusion coefficient and the activation energy of diffusion were got through the linear fitting between the diffusion rate and the √t of data, which was collected during the first 600 s of the tests. The results show that the bigger value of the equilibrium pressure, the bigger value of the initial effective diffusion coefficient and the diffusion rate of gas.The initial effective diffusion coefficient and the activation energy increase with the rise of temperature. The increase of coal particles radius could also promote the initial effective diffusion coefficient, but it cause the inhibition of the active energy. The amounts of diffusion activation energy of specimen 1 # and specimen 3 # were got using Arrhenius's equation, which were 14.38 kJ/mol and 9.99 kJ/mol separately.
