A study on the relationship between customer satisfaction and quality of life of the elderly in nursing homes in weifang city
Objective To explore the level of customer satisfaction and quality of life of the elderly in residential care homes in Weifang city,and analyze the relationship between them.Methods A total of 416 elderly people were investigated by using the questionnaire of"Customer Satisfaction Evaluation of Nursing Home"and WHOQOL-BREF.Results The scores of customer satis-faction of the elderly in the residential care homes were above 8.However,14(3.4%)cases of them chose not to renew their con-tracts and 38(9.1%)cases said they would not recommend their homes to friends and family.In the evaluation of quality of life of the elderly in institutions,except for physiological dimension,the average scores of other dimensions were above 3 points,and the av-erage score of environmental dimension is the highest.The analysis of influencing factors shows that all the dimensions of quality of life are related to the environment dimension of customer satisfaction.Other factors affecting the quality of life included the length of staying and in institutions for the elderly,reasons of staying in the care institutions,age of the elderly,education and so on.Conclu-sion In Weifang city,the elderly in residential care homes have higher customer satisfaction and higher self-rated quality of life.According to the analysis of the influencing factors,we should continue to strengthen the construction of the hardware resources of the care institutions in future,and strengthen the family support for the elderly even they lived in the care institutions.They can play an important role in improving the quality of life of the elderly in the institutions for the aged.
