Research progress on sarcopenia and cardiovascular disease
Sarcopenia is an age-related clinical syndrome characterized by a decline in muscle mass, strength, and physical per-formance,which may lead to a range of adverse health outcomes such as increased risk of frailty, falls, fractures, hospitalization and mortality.Increasing evidence suggests a higher prevalence of sarcopenia in cardiovascular disease patients, and these two conditions may interact through mechanisms such as inflammation, insulin resistance, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction, increasing the risk of adverse outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to summarize and synthesize the relevant research on sarcopenia and cardiovascular diseases, further elucidating their epidemiological characteristics, underlying relationships and mechanisms,pre-vention and intervention measures, and advocating for early screening, providing new strategies and approaches for the multidiscipli-nary management of sarcopenia and cardiovascular diseases.
