Research progress of assessment tools for patients with post-stroke delirium
Post-stroke delirium is an acute brain dysfunction syndrome characterized by acute impairment of consciousness, often accompanied by varying degrees of cognitive impairment, affective disorders, attention deficits, and sleep cycle disorders, and is one of the common clinical complications in stroke patients. It can cause a serious decline in the quality of survival, and the risk of increased readmission rate and mortality rate of patients. At present, the diagnostic criteria for post-stroke delirium have not reached a uniform consensus both at home and abroad, and the reported incidence of post-stroke delirium varies widely. However, the research on post-stroke delirium is developing rapidly in foreign countries, and some countries have guidelines for the prevention of post-stroke deliri-um,whereas the research on post-stroke delirium in China is still in its infancy, and most of the studies are limited to the current situ-ation and risk factor analyses, which have not yet attracted the attention of a wide range of healthcare professionals. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to review the literature of relevant studies at home and abroad, and to provide an overview of the diagnosis, assessment tools and risk factors of post-stroke delirium, with a view to providing reference for clinical healthcare professionals to se-lect appropriate assessment tools and conduct in-depth research in the field of post-stroke delirium.
