Epidemiological study of thyroid nodules in 1956 middle-aged and elderly people
Objective To investigate the detection of thyroid nodules in ultrasound examination of middle-aged and elderly peo-ple in Lanzhou City, and the relationship between nodules and thyroid function. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed from April 2022 to October 2023 on the included 1956 cases of middle-aged and elderly medical check-ups in Lanzhou City, who were tested for serum thyroid-related hormones and antibodies, biochemical examination and physical examination, and analyzed in conjunction with the detection of thyroid nodules in ultrasound examination. Results The detection rate of thyroid nodules in this study group was 50.1%.Comparing gender, age, blood glucose and serum ATg and ATpo between nodule group and non-nodule group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001);advanced age, female, metabolic syndrome, high BMI,were the risk factors affecting the occurrence of thyroid nodules in middle-aged and elderly people, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion As the detection rate of thyroid nodules increases with age,and as advanced age, female gender, high BMI,hyperglycemia, and hypertension may increase the risk of thyroid nodule detection, clinical attention should be paid to the im-plementation of appropriate interventions for the relevant high-risk groups to reduce the morbidity rate.
