Characteristics of cognitive function in elderly patients with hypertension combined with sleep disorders
Objective To analyze the characteristics of cognitive function in elderly people with hypertension combined with sleep disorder and explore the influence of hypertension combined with sleep disorder on cognitive function.Methods A total of 114 patients were selected from the Second People's Hospital of Fujian Province from August 2021 to December 2022.According to whether there was hypertension or not and whether there was sleep disorder,the patients were divided into hypertension combined with sleep disorder group(38 cases),simple hypertension group(38 cases)and normal blood pressure and sleep group(38 cases).Cognitive function was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MoCA)and differences in MoCA scores and cognitive domains including visuospatial/executive ability,naming ability,attention,language ability,abstraction,delayed memory,and orienta-tion were compared between the three groups.Results The MoCA scores of the 3 groups were compared,and the difference was sta-tistically significant.There were statistically significant differences in MoCA scores between the hypertension combined with sleep dis-order group and the hypertension group and the control group,and there were statistically significant differences in MoCA scores be-tween the hypertension group and the control group.Further analysis of each cognitive detail revealed differences between the hyper-tensive group and the control group in visuospatial/executive ability,attention and abstract ability.There were significant differences in visuospatial/executive ability,attention,language,abstraction and delayed memory between the hypertension and sleep disorder group and the control group.Conclusion Elderly people with hypertension have multi-domain cognitive function decline,and sleep disorders further exacerbate cognitive impairment.The cognitive function decline in people with hypertension combined with sleep disorders is mainly manifested in the fields of visuospatial and executive ability,attention,language,abstraction and delayed memory.
