Investigation on current prevention situation and training needs of iincontinence-associated dermatitis among elderly care worker
Objective To investigate the current situation of knowledge,attitude,practice and training needs of incontinence-as-sociated dermatitis(IAD)among elderly care worker,so as to provide insights into optimizing training program of IAD,and standardi-zing the prevention and management of IAD in elderly care institutions.Methods Cluster sampling was conducted from January to March 2024.The elderly care worker in 15 elderly care institutions in the main urban area of Mianyang city were investigated.The general situation,training needs questionnaire and incontinence-associated dermatitis knowledge,attitude,practice questionnaire were used to explore the knowledge,information practice status and training needs of elderly care workers.Results 251 questionnaires were sent out,217 were effectively recovered,and the recovery rate was 86%.The scores of incontinence-associated dermatitis pre-vention knowledge,attitude and behavior were(8.05±1.86),(26.08±1.98)and(34.02+4.09),respectively.In terms of knowl-edge of preventing incontinence-associated dermatitis,there were statistically significant differences in the scores of elderly care work-ers with different occupational certificates,different working years,different training frequencies,whether there is incontinence derma-titis care experience or there is a standardized procedure(P<0.05).In terms of behavior of preventing incontinence-associated der-matitis,there were statistically significant differences in the scores of elderly care workers with different occupational certificates,dif-ferent working years,whether there is incontinence care experience or there is a standardized procedure(P<0.05).The contents with high demand for training of elderly care workers include the assessment and prevention of incontinence-associated dermati-tis.The training method is more inclined to choose offline theoretical teaching+real case operation demonstration teaching.Conclu-sion The attitude of elderly care worker to prevent incontinence-associated dermatitis is reasonable,but the knowledge level needs to be improved,and the preventive behavior needs to be standardized.Elderly care institutions need to develop scientific and reasona-ble training programs according to the abilities and needs of elderly care workers.And introducing new skin protection products to im-prove the effectiveness of elderly care workers in the prevention and treatment of IAD,reduce the occurrence of incontinence dermati-tis in incontinent elderly.
