Study on willingness to pay for screening diabetes retinopathy in linyi city
Objective This study aims at provide a certain research background for the decision-making of DRS services by ex-ploring the willingness to pay for DRS services in Linyi City.Methods A 24-month descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the Ophthalmology Department of Shandong Medical College Affiliated Hospital from March 2022 to February 2024,with a total of 425 participants agreeing to participate in this study.Collect and review basic information and medical history of participants.The da-ta includes the participant's name,age,gender,place of residence(rural or urban),education level,occupation,insurance,economic status(including the proportion of household income used for food),and medical history.Ophthalmic examinations include visual a-cuity and fundus images.Conduct a survey questionnaire for DR screening.Logistic regression analysis of willingness to pay and line-ar regression analysis of different amounts that participants is willing to pay are used to examine the correlation between potential fac-tors and outcomes.Fit univariate and multivariate regression models.Results In the logistic regression model,only urban residents and those who pay 30%or above of their income for food are more willing to participate in DRS.In a univariate linear regression model,males,urban residents,and those with higher levels of education are willing to pay more.On the contrary,participants with poor vision are willing to pay less fee.In the multivariate model,only the association between male and urban residents remains sig-nificant.Conclusion The most likely group to be willing to pay fees are urban residents and economically disadvantaged fami-lies.Among the participants who are willing to pay a certain fee,those who are willing to pay more include males and urban resi-dents.
