Research progress of productivity loss in diabetic patients
The costs generated by diabetes are divided into direct costs and indirect costs.Direct costs refer to the costs directly generated by hospitalization, examination and drug costs, and indirect costs refer to the loss of productivity caused by absenteeism,re-duced work efficiency and premature death. If diabetes patients have poor blood glucose control, causing related complications,it will increase the cost of diabetes,in addition to increasing the related treatment costs, but also cause economic losses to employers and the country. In this paper, through a systematic search of relevant literature at home and abroad,we review the concept of productivity loss in elderly diabetic patients at home and abroad, the current status of research, assessment tools, influencing factors, interventions and the impact on individuals, employers and the economics, and suggest that in the future, more attention should be paid to health educa-tion and lifestyle interventions in diabetic patients,in order to improve diabetic patients'self-management level and to reduce the pro-ductivity loss caused by diabetes mellitus.
