Progress of platelet-rich plasma combined with traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of early-stage and middle-stage knee osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis(KOA) is a common clinical degenerative disease,and articular cartilage destruction,synovial inflammation and osteosclerosis are the main pathological features of the disease. Slowing cartilage degeneration and promoting cartilage repair are important ways to relieve pain and improve function.Platelet-rich plasma(PRP) is the concentrated product of platelets after centrifugation of autologous blood for several times,containing high concentrations of active factors that can regulate microcirculation,induce cell proliferation and migration,and maintain matrix homeostasis. PRP injected into the joint cavity can regulate bone and vascular remodeling,inhibit inflammation and chondrocyte apoptosis,thus repairing cartilage and slowing down the development of KOA.Traditional Chinese medicine has unique advantages in the treatment of KOA and achieved significant clinical efficacy.Based on this,this article reviewed the mechanism of action and clinical research of PRP in the treatment of KOA,the contraindications to PRP,and the research of PRP combined with TCM in the treatment of KOA,with the aim of providing new ideas,methods,and tools for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
