Research progress on experimental models of dietary interventions
Appropriate dietary interventions are pivotal in fostering healthy aging and extending lifespan. The goal is to refine nutritional therapies that mitigate age-related physiological deterioration through evidence-based dietary adjustments.Despite the considerable variability in individual genetics, lifestyles, and nutritional requirements that challenge the implementation of personalized nutrition plans, these differences also present rich opportunities for comprehensive research. This review conducted a comprehensive synthesis of prevalent dietary intervention paradigms, which were extensively utilized to enhance health and combat illness. The experimental models of dietary interventions included fasting, calorie restriction,lipid-focused diets, protein limitation, micronutrient supplementation, and metabolite-targeted diets. This study provided a valuable resource for selecting suitable dietary interventions in preclinical research, guiding researchers in tailoring the most fitting strategies based on experimental objectives and individual profiles. The aim is to optimize outcomes in disease prevention, health enhancement, and the improvement of life quality. We look forward to making a positive contribution to the advancement of nutritional science and the achievement of healthy aging.
