Ecological and Environmental Issues and Remediation Strategies of Abandoned Clay Mines in the Qinmang River Basin
After years of open-pit mining of clay mines in the Qinmang River Basin, extensive bedrock exposure and indiscriminate dumping of waste slag have occurred, causing severe soil erosion and making it difficult to sustain the local ecological balance.Geological hazards, including slag slopes, high and steep slopes, and collapses, have been identified within the mining area.Additionally,it has been observed that mining pits, waste rocks, and platform slag piles disrupt the terrain, landscape, and land resources. The remediation area is categorized into zones for substantive remediation, auxiliary restoration measures, and natural recovery.Soil replacement, vegetation restoration, and the installation of warning signs in the substantive remediation and auxiliary restoration zones have effectively improved the ecological environment of the Qinmang River Basin, enhanced the utilization value of land resources, and promoted the sustainable development of economy and society in Qinyang City.
