Introduction and Screening of New Potato Varieties Suitable for Growing in Arid Areas of Central Gansu Province
Five potato varieties were introduced and evaluated for agronomic traits, yield and disease resistance using‘Xindaping’as a control variety.‘Longshu 6’and‘Qingshu 9’were vigorous in plant growth, set 7 and 8 tubers per hil respectively, had shal ow eyes, were disease resistant, had high yield and high marketable tuber percentage with yield increase being by 22.99%and 9.64%respectively and significant higher than the control variety. It is recommended that 'Longshu 6' and 'Qingshu 9' be extended while 'Xindaping' continue to be planted in the arid areas of central Gansu Province.
