Selection and Breeding of a New Potato Variety'Xueyu 23'
'Xueyu 23'is a new mid-late maturing processing potato variety,developed by SnowValley Agricultural Group Co.,Ltd.,through sexual hybridization with'Agria'as female parent and'Zhongshu 4'as male parent.In 2023,it passed the non-staple crop varieties registration by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs[registration number:GPD potato(2023)130012].The growth duration of this variety is 91 days.The tubers are oval,with yellow skin,medium yellow flesh and medium shallow eyes.The two-year average yield of'Xueyu 23'was 2 875 kg/667m2,increased by 37.89%compared with the yield of control variety'Atlantic'(2 085 kg/667m2)in adaptation trials from 2020 to 2021.It has 25.00%dry matter,18.37%starch,1.03%protein,10.50 mg/100 g vitamin C and 0.22%reducing sugar.'Xueyu 23'is highly resistant to late blight,potato virus X and potato virus Y,but susceptible to potato leafroll virus.It is suitable for planting in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Zhangjiakou City of Hebei Province in north one cropping region.
