Comparison of Clinical Effect of Non-extraction Orthodontic Correction with Invisalign Appliance and Damon Q Self-ligating Bracket in Patients with Crowded Dentition
Objective To explore the clinical effect of non-extraction orthodontic correction with Invisalign appliance and Damon Q self-ligating bracket in patients with crowded dentition.Methods A total of 100 patients with crowded dentition undergoing non-extraction orthodontic correction in the hospital were enrolled between January 2019 and January 2022.According to different orthodontic methods,they were divided into Invisalign group(orthodontic treatment with Invisalign appliance,52 cases)and Damon Q group(orthodontic treatment with Damon Q self-ligating bracket,48 cases).The indexes of dental arch width(intercanine width,intercanine width of the first premolar and molar),periodontal health[gingival index(GI),plaque index(PLI),sulcus bleeding index(SBI)],inflammatory indexes in gingival crevicular fluid[interleukin-1β(IL-1β),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]and scores of oral health impactprofile-14(OHIP-14)in the two groups were compared.Results After treatment,width of dental arch was significantly increased in both groups(P＜0.05),but difference between the two groups was not statistically significant(P＞0.05).After treatment,GI,PLI,SBI,IL-1β and TNF-α in both groups were significantly increased,which were higher in Damon Q group than Invisalign group after 1,2 and 3 months of treatment(P＜0.05).During the treatment,OHIP-14 scores in both groups were increased,which were higher in Damon Q group than Invisalign group after 3 and 6 months of treatment(P＜0.05).After treatment,OHIP-14 scores in both groups were decreased(P＜0.05).Conclusion The curative effect of non-extraction orthodontic correction with both Invisalign appliance and Damon Q self-ligating bracket is good on crowded dentition,which can improve width of dental arch,with few effects on oral hygiene.However,Invisalign appliance is easier to ensure periodontal health and prevent the occurrence of periodontal diseases.
