Curative Effect of iRoot SP Single Apex Root Canal Filling in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Periapical Periodontitis
Objective To explore the curative effect and aesthetic effect of iRoot SP single apex root canal filling in patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic periapical periodontitis. Methods A total of 120 patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic periapical periodontitis admitted to the author's hospital were enrolled between August 2020 and December 2022.According to random grouping method, they were divided into observation group and control group,60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with AH Plus+ warm vertical condensation, while observation group was treated with iRoot SP single apex root canal filling. The root canal filling time,VAS scores at 1 d,3 d,5 d and 7 d after filling, periapical index(PAI)before and after filling, clinical curative effect at 3 months after filling, pink esthetic score(PES)and white esthetic score(WES)before and after filling, plaque index(PLI),probing depth(PD)and sulcus bleeding index(SBI)in the two groups were observed and compared. Results The filling time of unit root canal in control group was longer than that in observation group.PAI in observation group was lower than that in control group within 1 week after filling, and VAS scores were also lower than those in control group at 1 d,3 d,5 d and 7 d after filling(P<0.05).At 3 months after filling, difference in total response rate between the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Before filling,PES and WES were similar in the two groups(P>0.05).At 3 months after filling,PES and WES in observation group were higher than those in control group, while PLI,PD and SBI were lower than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with AH Plus+ warm vertical condensation,iRoot SP single apex root canal filling has higher filling efficiency, milder pain after filling, higher success rate and more significant aesthetic effect in patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic periapical periodontitis.
