Research Progress on the Mechanism of Collagen Type ⅩⅦ in Alopecia
Alopecia is a common skin disease. Its incidence is increasing year by year, and it is developing in a younger trend, which is plaguing more and more people's lives. It is characterized by progressive hair follicle miniaturization and shortening of hair growth period, resulting in loose hair attachment and easy shedding.Collagen type ⅩⅦ is a transmembrane protein located in the hemidesmosomes of the epidermal basement membrane zone, maintaining the tight junction between epidermis and dermis.Recent studies have found that collagen type ⅩⅦ is involved in hair growth and can regulate the quiescence and activation of hair-related cells.Deletion of collagen type ⅩⅦ can lead to alopecia through accumulation of DNA damage effects, imbalance of epidermal cell polarity and inhibition of stem cell competition. This article will review the mechanism ofⅩⅦ collagen in alopecia and provide a direction for the field of hair regeneration.
