Effects of Transitional Denture on Occlusal Ability and Aesthetic Degree after Complete Denture Restoration in Patients with Dentition Defect
Objective To investigate the effects of transitional denture on occlusal ability and aesthetic degree in patients with dentition defect after complete denture restoration. Methods 115 patients with dentition defect who were treated in the hospital from March 2019 to March 2022 were selected as observation subjects, and were divided into observation group(n=58)and control group(n=57)by the random number table method. The control group was given conventional complete denture restoration while the observation group carried out transitional denture restoration. The occlusal ability, scores of retention and stability, total number of tenderness points and pronunciation, chewing efficiency and oral health status, aesthetic degree, and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups after 3 months of wearing denture. Results After 3 months of wearing denture, the maxillofacial relationship index score and occlusal force in the two groups were significantly increased, and the two indicators of observation group were significantly higher than those of control group(all P<0.05).The retention score and stability score of both groups were enhanced significantly, and the scores of observation group were significantly higher(all P<0.05).The total number of tenderness points in the two groups was significantly reduced while the pronunciation score was significantly elevated, and the differences between the two groups were significant(all P<0.05).The chewing efficiency of the two groups was significantly risen while the oral health score was significantly declined, and the differences between the two groups were significant(all P<0.05).The total satisfaction of aesthetic degree in observation group 94.83%was significantly higher than that in control group 80.70%(χ2=5.365,P=0.021).The total effective rate in observation group was 91.38%,which was higher than 77.19%in control group(χ2=4.382,P=0.036).Conclusion The application of transitional denture after complete denture restoration in patients with dentition defect has a significant efficacy, and it can effectively enhance the occlusal ability, retention, stability and chewing efficiency of denture, relieve the mucosal pain after denture wearing and improve the oral health status of patients, and it is helpful to improve the phonetic function and aesthetic degree.
