Application Effect of Twin-block in Children with Skeletal Class Ⅱ Malocclusion and Mandibular Retraction
Objective To explore the application effect of Twin-block in children with skeletal Class Ⅱ malocclusion and mandibular retraction.Methods During the period from January 2019 to January 2021,84 children with skeletal Class II malocclusion and mandibular retraction received in the author's hospital were set as the research objects.They were randomly divided into the routine group and the research group,with 42 patients in each group.The routine group used straight wire arch appliances,and the research group used Twin-block appliances.Results After treatment,the masticatory function,occlusal force,mandibular change indexes,and soft tissue facial shape change indexes in the research group were better than those in the routine group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the sagittal diameter of the upper airway in the research group was higher than that in the routine group(P＜0.05).The treatment satisfaction of family members in the research group(95.24%)was significantly higher than that in the routine group(73.81%)(P＜0.05).Conclusion The application of Twin-block in the treatment of skeletal Class Ⅱ malocclusion and mandibular retraction in children can improve masticatory function,enhance occlusal force,promote mandibular growth,improve facial aesthetics,and expand the sagittal diameter of the upper airway,which is beneficial to improving respiratory function,and is highly praised by family members for the treatment effect.
