Efficacy of 1 565 nm Non-ablative Fractional Laser Combined with Type A Botulinum Toxin Injection in Periorbital Wrinkles
Objective To investigate the efficacy of 1 565 nm non-ablative fractional laser combined with type A botulinum toxin injection in the treatment of periorbital wrinkles. Methods A total of 108 patients with periorbital wrinkles treated in the author's department from October 2022 to August 2023 were enrolled in this study. They were randomly divided into three groups:the botulinum toxin group(type A botulinum toxin injection group),the laser group(1 565 nm non-ablative fractional laser treatment group),and the combination therapy group(1 565 nm non-ablative fractional laser combined with type A botulinum toxin injection group),with 36 patients in each group. The patients were followed up at 4 weeks,12 weeks, and 24 weeks after treatment.Wrinkle scores were evaluated using the VISIA skin analysis system,Fitzpatrick facial wrinkle grading scale, and the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale(GAIS)to assess the treatment effects of the three groups and record adverse reactions. Results At the 4th,12th,and 24th weeks after the initial treatment, the VISIA scores and Fitzpatrick scores of the three groups showed varying degrees of improvement compared to before treatment. At the 4th and 12th weeks after the initial treatment, the VISIA scores and Fitzpatrick scores in the combination therapy group and the botulinum toxin group were lower than those in the laser group(P<0.05),with no significant statistical difference between the two groups(P>0.05).However,at the 24th week after the initial treatment, the periorbital wrinkle scores of the botulinum toxin group increased, with the VISIA scores and Fitzpatrick scores in the order of combination therapy group<laser group<botulinum toxin group(P<0.05).The combination therapy group had a significantly higher total effective rate of GAIS scores than the laser group and the botulinum toxin group at 4 weeks,12 weeks, and 24 weeks after the initial treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion 1 565 nm non-ablative fractional laser combined with Type A botulinum toxin treatment significantly improves periorbital therapy outcomes, demonstrating excellent safety and enhanced aesthetic results.
