Influence of Timing of Periodontal Treatment after Root Canal Treatment on the Clinical Effect and Aesthetics of Combined Periodontal Pulp Syndrome
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of different periodontal treatment time after root canal therapy for combined periodontal and endodontic lesions. Methods From March 2019 to March 2020,80 patients with combined periodontal and endodontic lesions were treated with root canal therapy. They were randomly divided into early stage group(n=40)and late stage group(n=40),the early group received periodontal treatment 1 week after the end of the root canal therapy, while the late group received periodontal treatment 4-6 weeks after the end of the root canal therapy. The clinical effects, adverse reactions, periodontal indexes, gingival crevicular fluid inflammatory factors and aesthetic effects were compared between the two groups 1 month after operation. Results One and six months after treatment,PD,BI and PI were decreased in both groups(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the levels of IL-6,TNF-α and Il-1β in gingival crevicular fluid in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the levels of IL-6,TNF-α and Il-1β in the early group were lower than those in the late group(P<0.05).PES scores of both groups were increased, and the early group was higher than the late group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no serious adverse reactions in the two groups, and there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For combined periodontal and pulp lesions, periodontal treatment after one week of root canal treatment can suppress inflammation and have a significant aesthetic effect.
