Objective To investigate the improvement of clinical symptoms in patients with chronic periodontitis(CP)with Er∶YAG assisted periodontal basal therapy. Methods A total of 106 CP patients admitted to Xinjiang Uiger Municipal People's Hospital from January 2019 to April 2022 were selected and divided into conventional group(n=53)and study group(n=53)by random number table method. The conventional group received periodontal basal therapy, and the study group received Er∶YAG treatment on the basis of the conventional group. The efficacy, occurrence of adverse reactions, before treatment and three months after treatment the clinical indicators[probing depth(PD),gingival index(GI),clinical attachment loss(CAL)],and inflammatory factors in gingival creval fluid[Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6)]of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the study group was 92.45%higher than that of the conventional group 75.47%(P<0.05).At three months after treatment,PD,GI and CAL were decreased in the study group and the conventional group, and the study group was lower than the conventional group(P<0.05).After three months of treatment, the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in gingival crevicular fluid in two groups were decreased, and the levels in the study group were lower than those in the conventional group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was 13.21%in the study group and 7.55%in the conventional group, with no significant difference between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Er∶YAG assisted periodontal basal therapy can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of CP patients, improve the periodontal condition, reduce periodontal inflammation, and has good safety.
